The Wintec Industries WBTV42 line of embedded Bluetooth modules fully integrate the baseband controller for core Bluetooth operations along with an external flash for profile storage, crystal and antenna with highly efficient RF circuitry, enabling maximum signal strength without the need for a power amplifier. This compact, certified, ready-to-integrate package also allows for greatly improved time-to-market.
The base form factor of the Wintec Bluetooth modules is 0.58 inch x 1.33 inch (14.7mm x 33.8mm) with 34 solder balls in two rows. For easy evaluation and system integration, the module is also available in a 24-pin DIP form factor with dimensions of 0.9 inch x 1.4 inch (22.9mm x 35.6mm)

Built-in Antenna
The use of a built-in antenna greatly reduces the workload of future developments and since no power amplification is necessary, the module draws an exceptionally low amount of power. |

Class 2
The module achieves the highest Class 2 performance with an output power of approximately +4dBm with receiver sensitivity being -86dBm typically. Normal communication range has been shown to be up to 30 meters, well beyond the minimum specifications of a regular Class 2 device. |

8Mbit Flash
The modules come pre-loaded with the applicable firmware that our customers require. The 8Mbit flash has more than enough room to store this firmware. |

SPP or DUN Profile
The Serial Port Profile (SPP) defines how to set up a virtual serial port on two devices with Bluetooth wireless technology. The SPP profile emulates an RS232 connection using RS232 flow control signals. The profile also ensures data rates up to 128Kbps can be used. This profile is commonly chosen for embedded applications. |

Evaluation Kit: |

Wintec Industries also offers an evaluation board, WBTV42-EVB-SPP for customers to fully evaluate the full functionality of the embedded Bluetooth module. The evaluation board has a DIP socket to receive the DIP form factor module (WBTV42-D-DPP) and can easily be connected to a regular PC using an RS-232 cable which is supplied.
