Wintec Industries is to release working samples of DDR3 modules compatible with Bearlake (codename), Intel’s future desktop chipset family for desktops. The unveiling of Wintec’s 512MB and 1GB DDR3-1066MHz modules will occur at the 2007 Spring Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Beijing, China in April.
A memory manufacturer, worldwide memory supplier, and Master Intel Distributor, Wintec works directly with Intel to test and certify memory. As the requirements for hardware and software support and the demand for higher bandwidth increase, so too will the need for DDR3 memory. Wintec welcomes Intel’s announcement to add support for DDR3, and looks forward to providing memory solutions for the newest platforms.
DDR3 offers several enhanced low power features compared to DDR2. The 90nm technology results in up to a 40% reduction in power consumption and the lower operating currents and voltage, 15.V vs. 1.8V, require less cooling, prolonging the battery life of notebook computers. In addition, DDR3 increases the performance of multimedia applications. |
